Manchester United Coach Ole Gunnar Solksjaer travelled to Salzburg on Friday to meet with Erling Braut Haaland’s representatives, MySportDab reports.
Solksjaer is said to have spent the whole day trying to convince Haaland’s representatives that a move to United is the best choice for the player.
Solksjaer was the man that helped start Haaland’s club career and running when he managed the player at Molde during his early days as a coach.
Now he is keen to reunite with the player at Old Trafford, with United set to submit their bid in the January transfer window.
According to Norwegian newspaper VG, Solskjaer arrived in Salzburg early on Friday morning for a meeting with Haaland’s representatives.
His father Alf-Inge Haaland was also among other representatives during the meeting with Solksjaer in Austria.
MySportDab understands Solskjaer was absent from United training session on Friday because he was away trying to secure the deal.
Solksjaer is looking to step up the United’s interest in the 19-year-old following strong attractions from Liverpool, RB Leipzig and Borrusia Dortmund.
RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann earlier this week admitted to meeting with Haaland in Germany to discuss a potential transfer from Salzburg.
“I tried to explain everything to him in proper English what my type and idea of football is. I think he understood me quite well,” Nagelsmann told Kicker.
Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful his strong relationship with his compatriot can help him lure Haaland to Old Trafford in January.
The 19-year-old has scored in 28 goals this season and has attracted interest from Europe’s elite clubs as he eyes his next big transfer.
Over 40 clubs did send scouts to watch Red Bull Salzburg play against Liverpool on Tuesday night in the Champions League final group stage game and Haaland endured a quiet evening as the Reds won 2-0.
