Toby Alderweireld has officially signed a new contract extension with Tottenham until 2023, MySportDab reports.
New Coach Jose Mourinho has immediately secured the long-term services of a player who is very important for Spurs in defence.
MySportDab understands the 30-year-old’s new contract is worth around £150,000-per-week – which is triple of his previous contract wages at £50,000-per-week.
Mourinho played a crucial role in making the defender decide to continue his legacy stay at Tottenham Hotspur, after he was previously linked with a move to Manchester United.
Alderweireld’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of this season, which means he would been free to talk to other clubs about a transfer from January 1 if he had not signed a new deal.
The Belgian international is just the second Tottenham player aged over 30 or more to sign a new contract deal until the 2023 this season, after Moussa Sissoko agreed an extension earlier this year.
