Liverpool Coach Jurgen Klopp has responded to a letter from a 10-year-old Manchester United fan who asked him not to win another match ever again, MySportDab reports.
Daragh Curley sent out his letter as part of a school assignment and pointed out that Liverpool are nine wins away from sealing the longest unbeaten run in English top-flight history.
MySportDab understands The County Donegal native called for an end Liverpool’s dominance, writing: “I support Manchester United and the reason I am writing this letter is to complain.
“Liverpool are winning too many match. If you win nine more matches then you have the best unbeaten run in English football. Being a United fan this is sad.
“So the next time Liverpool play please lose. You should just let the other team at least score.
“I hope I have convinced you not to win the league or win another match ever again.”
The Glenswilly National School was shocked when Jurgen Klopp responded to his letter.
The letter read: “Firstly, I want to thank you for writing to me. I know you did not send good luck or anything like that but it is always good to hear from a young football fan no matter what so I appreciate you getting in touch.
“Unfortunately I cannot grant your request, not through choice anyway.
“As much as you want Liverpool to not win, it is my job to do everything that I can to help Liverpool win as there are millions of people all over the world who want that to happen so I really do not want to let them down.
“Luckily for you, we have lost matches before and we will lose games in the future because this is football.
“The issue is when you are ten years old you think that things will always be as they are now but if there is one thing I can tell you as 52 years old it is that it isn’t the case.
“Having read your letter, though, I think I can safely say that nothing can change your passion for football and for your club. Manchester United are very lucky to have you.
“I hope we are lucky enough to win more matches and maybe even lift some many trophies you will not be too disappointed because although our clubs are great rivals we also share a great respect for them.
“This is what football is all about to me. Take care and good luck.”
