Board member Eric Abidal has kept his job at Barcelona despite a Bust-up the club’s most popular player Lionel Messi, MySportDab reports.
Abidal had a two-hour meeting with club president Josep Bartomeu on Wednesday night and was told his job was safe.
However, Messi’s spectacular out bust with Abidal is unlikely to make way for a last-ditch transfer to the Premier League.
Messi has a contract at Barcelona until 2021 but it includes a clause which means he could leave for free at the end of the season if he is unhappy.
The public disagreement between the two men has left Barcelona unsure of Lionel Messi’s commitment beyond this summer and City have always been interested in signing the Argentine superstar.
But despite his social media spat with Abidal over the players that previous coach Ernesto Valverde got before the sack, nothing much has changed.
32-year-old Messi is more likely to use his contract freedom to his benefit, with presidential elections set for the summer and candidates are already making plans that will keep him at the club.
Changes that include another attempt to re-sign former player Neymar Jr from Paris Saint-Germain.
MySportDab understands president Bartomeu spoke to Messi before having a meeting with Abidal and that tensions at the club have eased.
Barcelona’s main problems will now return to the pitch.
They have two difficult next matches away from the Camp Nou, the first on Thursday in the cup in Bilbao, and in La Liga against Betis over the weekend.
