Chelsea Coach Frank Lampard has admitted that midfielder N’Golo Kante’s injury “doesn’t look great”, MySportDab reports.
Kante was substituted in the first half of yesterday’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
Kante has endured a different campaign due to injury problems, with another problem forcing him off the pitch in the 12th minute of the Premier League match and was replaced by Mason Mount.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Lampard said: “It’s an adductor injury. We’ll need to assess it but it doesn’t look great.”
Kante appeared to have finally returned to full fitness by playing in 13 of the team’s previous 14 fixtures following an injury disturbing couple of months at the start of the season.
When asked if the France midfielder’s latest injury is related to a previous problem, Lampard said: “I don’t know have information about that for now. I wouldn’t want to give you that information.
“I can assure it’s the same leg, so it’s maybe similar.”
Kante’s injury provides a big problem for Lampard amid Chelsea’s poor run of form that has allowed their rivals back into the race for top four spots.
MySportDab understands Tottenham are on fire at the moment and travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday in an much anticipated game.
Kante will most likely miss that game if his injury is as serious as Lampard fears.
Chelsea play next after Bayern Munich with a trip to Germany next Tuesday to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The Blues’ fixture list gets worse with an away game at Bournemouth followed by an FA Cup tie against Liverpool.
