Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar Jr will miss the Ligue 1 game away to Nantes due to a rib injury, just 2 days after his birthday party in a Paris nightclub, MySportDab reports.
Neymar played the full 90 minutes on Saturday when Thomas Tuchel’s team defeated Montpellier 5-0, but still needed treatment during the first half.
Neymar will now miss the midweek match and his coach Tuchel has admitted the preparation for the game was not ideal with several PSG stars out with the Brazilian on Sunday night.
Speaking a press conference, Coach Thomas Tuchel said: ‘Is that how to prepare for a match? No. Is it a thing? No.
‘I will always protect my players, and I love my team. With this party, I accept it is difficult to protect the players, but the main idea is not simply black or white.
‘It is a big shame, because we are giving people every right to speak badly of us. We need to adapt to this, but won’t leave a player on the bench or at home because they went out to party and celebrate.’
MySportDab understands While Neymar will miss the match, the responsibility will be on Kylian Mbappe, who was involved in a heated exchange with Tuchel over the weekend.
The French star was replaced in the second half by Mauro Icardi and expressed his frustration with the PSG boss on the touchline.
‘There is nothing personal between us. These things can happen,’ Tuchel added.
‘It was simple between a player who wants to play more and a coach who had reasons for taking him off and also wanted to give other players more playing time.’
