Former Arsenal player Nwankwo Kanu believes Striker Odion Ighalo can fill the space left by the exit of Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United, MySportDab reports.
The Red Devils had very few options in the attacking positions following the exit of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.
A bad injury to Marcusd Rashford then left United with no option than to sign a new player in January, and that new player was ighalo joining on loan from Chinese Club Shanghai Shenhua.
The Nigerian is set to be included in the United squad for the first time on Monday as they play against Chelsea, after completing an enforced 14-day spell away from his new side due to Coronavirus fears.
And Nigerian football Legend Kanu is confident that Ighalo can make impact.
‘Yes Ighalo can replace Lukaku,’ Kanu told Goal.
‘If you watch him play, you will discover that he is strong and can score many goals.
‘What he needs is the chances. In this club, I am sure his game will improve because United has great players.
‘Despite playing out Europe, Ighalo is not a player you should look down on and say he is not good.
‘I believe in him and I know he will deliver if given the chance to show what he can do. Bringing him to Old Trafford means that the club believe in his ability, and we have to respect that.
‘I don’t think he will disappoint because he will give them value for their money.’
