Chelsea have approached Real Madrid about the possibility of signing defender Achraf Hakimi in the summer transfer window, MySportDab reports.
Chelsea Coach Frank Lampard is very determined to strengthen his defensive options in the summer and the Blues have made contact with Real Madrid about the availability of the full-back.
Right now, The 21-year-old is enjoying life in Germany while on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
However, the loan agreement doesn’t include an option for the Bundesliga club to buy the defender.
Coach Lampard is keen to sign another left-back to his squad and while Hakimi’s main slot is at right-back, the versatile youngster can comfortably play down both flanks and can also play as a winger.
According to the Mirror, Real Madrid have told Chelsea that they will not decide on Hakimi’s future until the season is over.
MySportDab understands Los Blancos have told Hakimi to return to the Bernabeu with the idea that he would be included in the first-team.
However, the final decision is left for club’s manager Zinedine Zidane to make.
But, Chelsea are not alone in their bid to sign the Morocco international and Bayern Munich have also shown interest in the defender after his impressive performances in the German Bundesliga.
MySportDab can confirm that Hakimi’s representatives met with Real Madrid Chiefs in February to clarify the club’s long-term plans for the player.
During the talks, they made it clear to Real Madrid that the defender would only stay if he was guaranteed a first team spot.
Hakimi’s contract with Madrid expires on June 2022 and the deal has a cheap release clause of around £50million.

At Chelsea, Lampard has struggled to find a regular left-back he is completely dependent on this season.
The former Derby Coach has given both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri chances to impress this season but none have been good enough.
Alonso has played 20 matches this season, while Emerson has played just 18 games.
