BREAKING! 2020 Wimbledon CANCELLED Due To CoronaVirus Outbreak!

The 2020 Wimbledon tennis tournament have been officially cancelled after an emergency meeting in London, MySportDab reports.

Many had expected for the tournament to be cancelled despite weeks of speculation about how it could still hold despite the global coronavirus pandemic.

And now Wimbledon has joined the list of sporting events impacted by the spread of Covid-19.

This is the first time since the Second World War that Wimbledon will not hold.

An official statement said: “It is with regret that the Main Board of the All England Club (AELTC) and the Committee of Management of The Championships have decided that The 2020 Wimbledon Championships will be cancelled due to public health concerns.

“The 134th Championship will instead take place from 28 June to 11 July 2021.

“Since the outbreak of the coronavirus in January, we have followed guidelines from the UK Government and health authorities in relation to our operations, alongside developing an understanding in the UK.

This is a massive blow blow to the Lawn Tennis Association which had tournaments already scheduled for the Queen’s Eastbourne, Nottingham and Birmingham.

Last week, the All England Club made it clear that postponing Wimbledon would be very difficult even after the space created by the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics.
