The German Bundesliga could resume sooner than expected on May 9th and clubs have resumed training already, MySportDab reports.
MySportDab understands the German football league was suspended due to the coronavirus crisis with nine matches left to end the 2019-20 season.
Speaking to Bild, German politican Markus Soder said:
‘The new update is that there is a very well understood concept.
‘Everything the DFL has presented shows that protective measures remain in place.
‘I could imagine that we can resume matches behind closed doors.
‘It is a difficult situation. We have to be careful not to over do it or be less serious.
‘Games with fans at the stadiums looks unrealistic. Games behind closed doors appear to be the only option.
‘It is conceivable that we might play the next round of matches as soon as from May 9th.
‘We all can agree that a weekend with football is much more fun than a weekend without football.’
Bayern Munich remain top of the Bundesliga and four points ahead of Borussia Dortmund, with RB Leipzig in third.
