Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has suggested that Liverpool should be crowned the Premier League Champions and the season should be ended, MySportDab reports.
The Reds currently have a shocking 25-point gap over second placed Manchester City and were just two games away securing their first league crown in 30 years before the league was suspended.
But Rudiger feels that Klopp’s men deserve to be champions whether the season is cancelled or not.
“Honestly they should give Liverpool the title,’ Rudiger told ZDF.
“They deserve it, they’ve enjoyed a great season and are leading the table, I don’t know how many points.
“They were going to win the title anytime, so I think the title is already theirs. Of course, I believe the season can be finished and it will be good for everyone.
‘But if we continue to play and there is danger, and we ignore that people are dying across the world, I don’t know if that can rest on my conscience.’
Rudiger feels very concerned given that the United Kingdom are one of the most affected countries in the world by the coronavirus crisis.
In the UK, there are over 165,000 confirmed cases and 26,097 deaths due to the pandemic.
The UK remains the second worst hit country in Europe behind Italy, while the United States are third in the world.
MySportDab understands the Premier League are still working on various plans on how to finish the Premier League season with government approved guidelines.
Rudiger’s Chelsea team were fourth before the Premier League season was suspended and would automatically qualify for the Champions League next season if the table is used as final.
