UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has given fans hope by making it clear that Liverpool would be crowned Premier League Champions one way or another, MySportDab reports.
Football is currently on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic with all European leagues suspended.
The Premier League clubs want the 2019-20 season to be completed but can only continue when allowed by the UK government.
The fears that it will take long before it is safe enough to play football again has led to calls for the season to be declared ‘null and void.’
MySportDab understands if the season is cancelled, Liverpool will be cruelly denied their first Premier League title in 30 years.
Jurgen Klopp’s team were 25 points clear and needed just two more wins to be confirmed as champions when football was suspended in March.
‘I can’t see Liverpool not winning the title,” Ceferin told Slovenian daily Paper EkipaSN.
‘If the Premier League resumes, Liverpool will almost surely win the league.
‘Theoretically it’s not exactly over, but Liverpool already have one hand on it.
‘If by any chance play does not not resume, we still have to declare final results and declare a champion.
‘And I repeat again I can’t see or imagine a scenario, in which Liverpool are now crowned champions.
‘I understand all fans will be very disappointed if it does happen in an empty stadium, but I believe, they will get the title one way or another.’
