Atletico Madrid Star Thomas Partey father has confirmed that Arsenal are in talks with the club over a potential transfer deal, MySportDab reports.

Thomas Partey is currently linked with a summer move to Arsenal and has a £43m release clause in his current contract.

The 26-year-old remains a key member of Diego Simeone’s team in LaLiga this season, playing 21 games and scoring twice.

Arsenal are now ahead in the race to sign him and improce their midfield options and Partey’s father Jacob said he can confirm the rumours about a possible transfer are all true.

‘I asked my son after hearing everything in the news and he told me that it is true,’ Thomas Partey father Jacob told Tru FM’s Sports World Show.

‘He said they are currently talks between him and Arsenal.

‘It all depends on what Atletico wants. If he join Arsenal fine, they have a lot fans here in Ghana.’

MySportDab understands Arsenal Coach Mikel Arteta is determined to sign midfield reinforcements after poor performances from stars like Mateo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.

Partey’s last match came in Atletico’s Champions League extra time Champions League win over Liverpool in March at Anfield.

Liverpool were unlucky against a difficult Atletico team as Partey completed four successful tackles, four clearances and four interceptions.
