Chelsea have opened talks with Leicester City to secure a deal for Left-back Ben Chilwell in the next transfer window, MySportDab reports.

Ben Chilwell has also told his agent that he wants to leave Leicester and secure a move to London.

Chelsea plan to improve their defensive options this summer part of a squad overhaul with Coach Frank Lampard desperate for new signing.

The Blues currently don’t have first choice left-back, with Marcos Alonso, Cesa Azpilicueta and Emerson Palmieri having all played at that position this campaign.

Alonso started most games before the Premier League season was suspended which means Emerson is more likely to leave the club.

Juventus have been linked with a bid for Emerson and the Italian is expected to link up with ex Chelsea Coach Maurizio Sarri.

Alonso could also be sold by Chelsea if they got a good offer and Frank Lampard now needs a new Left-back in place.

Other Left-back options for Chelsea include Nicolas Tagliafico, Alex Telles, Marc Cucurella and Fode Ball-Toure.

Ben Chilwell

However, Chilwell remains Chelsea’s top priority in defence and the Blues are have now opened talks with Leicester.

MySportDab understands Chelsea have started negotiations with the Foxes and still have competition from the likes of Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid.

However, Leicester see Chilwell as a very important player and they want around £80m for the 23-year-old.

Chilwell has played 23 Premier League games for Leicester this season, scoring twice and has two assists.
