Philippe Coutinho’s Agent Provides Transfer Update After Chelsea And Man Utd Rumours

Philippe Coutinho has not spoken to Chelsea or Manchester United about a summer deal, his agent Kia Joorabchian has revealed, MySportDab reports.

Philippe Coutinho has being linked with Chelsea, Manchester United and also a move back to Liverpool.

The Barcelona midfielder has been linked with various clubs ahead of the summer transfer window after a failed time at the Camp Nou.

Coutinho completed a £142m transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona in January 2018 but has struggled to impress at the Spanish club, scoring just  21 goals and providing 11 assists in 76 matches for the La Liga giants.

The 27-year-old was loaned to Bayern Munich for the 2019/20 season.

He’s gotten nine goals and eight assists at the Allianz Arena but the Bundesliga Giants won’t sign him on a permanent deal which has lead to Premier League rumours.

However, Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian has provided an update about his situation.

“Philippe right now, he’s at Bayern but unavailable at the moment,” Joorabchian told TalkSport.

“He suffered an injury, had a surgery done two weeks ago on his ankle and needs six weeks to recover fully, which means he will miss the restart of the Bundesliga for some time.

“But the rumours? As of today, we are to speak with any club about any potential deals.

“I think everyone’s main focus is on this pandemic and how football can resume back in a safe and secure environment and the safety of everybody.

“The transfer side and where Philippe will move to next, or where other players would move, will only become known when the current situation is better.”

The German Bundesliga will become the first European league to resume since the  coronavirus crisis started, with matches ready for this weekend.

The two months break has given Coutinho a better time to recover and help Bayern Munich in their title bid.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool will hope to watch him play more before trying to sign him.

Newcastle and Everton have also shown interest in the player but Chelsea are ahead of other clubs in the race for his signature.

MySportDab understands a loan transfer with an option to buy at the end appears the most likely, with Coutinho’s wages ruling out several other clubs interested.

Chelsea would likely have cash to spend, having been inactive due to a transfer ban in recent windows and unable to spend any cash earned from player sales.
