Premier League Project Restart In Doubt As Third Brighton Player Tests Positive For CoronaVirus

The English Premier League Project Restart is now in doubt after Brighton confirmed that a third player tested positive for coronavirus after tests, MySportDab reports.

“It is a serious concern,” Brighton chief executive Paul Barber told Sky Sports.

“Now we have another player who tested positive yesterday, so despite the health measures in place over the for weeks now, where players have stopped training totally, we have still had another positive case.

“So Yes there are serious concerns and I think it is normal for clubs to feel concerned.

“We are trying to do everything that we can to ensure those safety measures are in place and are safe enough to reduce any potential risk.”

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to reduce the coronavirus lockdown rules during his Monday night address.

His decision to relax the lockdown regulations will trigger plans for the Premier League’s official restart.

A video call meeting is scheduled for tomorrow between Premier league chiefs and clubs to discuss plans for players to resume training this month and resume matches in June.

But Brighton’s COVID-19 cases will therefore bring doubts amongst clubs, staffs and players.

Some Premier League clubs are not happy about the idea to resume the season during a global pandemic.
