Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho and teammate Manuel Akanji have been fined by the German Bundesliga for Breaching CoronaVirus lockdown restrictions, MySportDab reports.
Sancho and Akanji were fined after photos were shared online of them getting a haircut in their homes, and the players did not wear any protective equipment.
A statement from the German Bundesliga (DFL) on Friday read: ‘The DFL has fined Borussia Dortmund players Jadon Sancho and Manuel Akanji.
‘The players had violated general hygiene and infection protection guidelines at home haircut appointments and the medical-organisational concept of the DFL.
‘There is no doubt that footballers also have to get their hair cut. However, this has to be done in accordance with the medical guidelines.’
Jadon Sancho responded on Twitter:
Absolute Joke DFL! ??♂️
According to German Newspaper Bild, Sancho, Akanji, Raphael Guerreiro, Thorgan Hazard, Axel Witsel and Dan-Axel Zagadou, all got their haircut by celebrity barber Winnie Nana Karkari.
Borussia Dortmund said in a statement: ‘It is common that our players must get their hair cut done after so long.
‘But it should not be done without a mask. We will always remind our players about that.’
The latest decision to fine Sancho comes after the German football federation (DFB) decided against punishing him for the message during his goal celebration about George Floyd’s death.
Floyd’s passing on has caused wide spread protests across the United States and other countries.
