Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt has praised Cristiano Ronaldo as ‘the best of his generation’, MySportDab reports.
De Ligt also said that the five time Ballon D’or winner is ‘a huge role model for young players’.
Cristiano Ronaldo is moving close to the end of his career at 35-years-old but he’s still one of the best players in the world right now.
The Portuguese star has scored 21 goals in 22 Serie A matches this season.
However, De Ligt has admitted that he is always trying to improve by learning from Ronaldo.
‘Ronaldo is the best player of his generation. A huge role model for young players. I always try to improve my football by watching him because he has a crazy intensity even in training and we wonder if really he is 35 years old,’ De Ligt told Tuttosport.
Ronaldo will become more crucial for Juventus when the Serie A resumes and the Old Lady play against Bologna on June 22.
Juventus are currently top of the Serie A they, but they have serious competition for the title from Lazio and Inter Milan.
Juve are also still in the Champions League but lost the first leg of the last-16 match against Lyon before the coronavirus pandemic caused football to be suspended.
Meanwhile, De Ligt has played 27 matches for Juventus across all competitions and has impressed fans.
