Liverpool have emerged as favorites to sign midfielder Thiago Alcantara after the he ended contract talks with Bayern Munich, MySportDab reports.
Thiago’s current Bayern Munich contract expires in the the summer of 2021.
But the Spain international looked set to sign a new contract after the German champions won their eighth consecutive Bundesliga title last weekend.
However, According to German Newspaper Bild, Thiago has now ended talks with the Bavarian club, and his team-mates believe there is a very real chance he could leave this summer.
Bild claims that Bayern Munich players have confirmed that Thiago is ready for a new challenge outside Germany.
That challenge may be in the Premier League, with Liverpool said to be interested in the midfielder.
Liverpool Coach Jurgen Klopp is a long-term fan of the Brazilian-born star, and wants to bring him to the Premier League.
Thiago could also move back to Barcelona, thanks to a buy-back clause included when he was sold to Bayern Munich.
A clause inserted in his contract stated that Barcelona can buy their former player back for just €25million (£22.5m).
Thiago has played 35 matches for Bayern Munich this season, scored three goals in the German Bundesliga.
