“Manchester City Will Give Liverpool Guard of Honour” – Coach Pep Guardiola

Manchester City Coach Pep Guardiola has confirmed that his players will form a guard of honour for new Premier League winners Liverpool on Thursday, MySportDab reports.

Liverpool won the Premier League crown while City had worn in the last two years when they ended their 30-year drought for a league title.

When football returned after the coronavirus lockdown, Liverpool’s match at the Etihad Stadium had been set as the potentially title decisive match.

But Manchester City’s defeat at Chelsea put Liverpool totally out of reach.

And, Pep Guardiola feels it would be great to pay tribute to Jurgen Klopp’s team.

“Of course we will do it,” said Guardiola.

“We will do the guard of honour, of course.

“We always receive Liverpool in an incredible way when they come to our house. They cannot complain about that and, of course, we will do it because they deserve it.”

After missing out on the title last season, Liverpool have been dominated the Premier League this season, securing the title with a new record of seven games left, and 28 wins from 31 games.

The Reds will travel to Manchester on Thursday with a 23-point gap over City in second place.

Manchester City still have hopes of winning a trophy this season through the FA Cup or the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester City travel to Newcastle on Sunday for their FA Cup quarter-final match.
