Manchester United Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he won’t buy ‘rotten apples’ for his squad and wants new players to fit in, MySportDab reports.
The Norway International signed Harry Maguire, Daniel James, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in his first Manchester United summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes arrived at Old Trafford in January, but Solskjaer’s focus is on new players who he wants to fit in perfectly.
Before Solksjaer was appointed as Coach, United made some high-profile, expensive transfer mistakes.
Paul Pogba has been very well criticised for his attitude and lack of consistency since he returned to Manchester United in 2016.
Alexis Sanchez, who is paid £500,000-per-week, is currently on loan at Inter Milan after struggling since his transfer from Arsenal.
Romelu Lukaku was also sold to the Italian club last summer.
However, Solskjaer has made it clear that he wants new signings that reflect his personality at the end of the season.
‘I feel I was professional and felt privileged to play for Manchester United,’ Solskjaer said to the Shiv Nadar Foundation.
“I won’t be able to look at myself if I didn’t give everything for my team-mates and my Coach.
“That’s what I now look for in players we sign or we promote from the youth team.
“You must have a good personality and be professional because one rotten apple can make the others rotten.
“So it’s about building a squad that will reflect me and my coaching personalities and views. Of course we have standards because we want to win. We are here to win.
“The first step to be a Manchester United player is that you must be humble enough to know you have to work hard.
“Never give up and always show your best, 100 per cent effort is wanted every day and never think you are too good.
“You still need to play with that confidence. It’s a good balance but that is what will become crucial to when we want to get to the top level.”
