Everton forward Richarlison has aimed a dig at Virgil van Dijk ahead of Sunday’s Merseyside Derby against Liverpool, MySportDab reports.
Richarlison has claimed that there are three defenders better than Van Dijk in the world.
Liverpool are on the verge of winning the Premier League, and need only two more match wins to secure a first title in 30 years.
Some Liverpool fans were hopeful of securing the title at Goodison Park, the home of theirrivals, but Arsenal failed to defeat second place Manchester City.
However, Brazil and Everton Star Richarlison is keen to block Liverpool’s path to the Premier League title this Sunday.
But Richarlison would have to overcome Virgil Van Dijk In defence for Liverpool.
The Netherlands Centre-back is widely known as one of the best footballers in the world and was shortlisted for the 2019 Ballon d’Or, where he finished in the top three after winning the Champions League.
However, 23-year-old Richarlison has reminded Van Dijk that he has dribbled past him in recent Premier League seasons.
‘People talk about Van Dijk a lot, yes he is a good defender but I’ve dribbled past him already,’ Richarlison said in an interview.
‘He was selected as one of the top three best in the world because he had an excellent season. But for me, there are better defenders in the world.’
When asked who is better than Van Dijk, the Brazilian said: ‘Sergio Ramos, Thiago Silva and Marquinhos’.
Liverpool travel to face Everton on Sunday in their first match since the Premier League restart on Wednesday 17th June 2020.
