Real Madrid Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has insisted that they need summer signing Eden Hazard scoring goals when La Liga resumes, MySportDab reports.
Hazard has struggled at Real Madrid since his £88m (€100m) transfer from Chelsea in 2019.
The Belgian suffered a serious ankle injury in November which means he’s played just two games in the past six months.
But now Hazard is fully fit after a three-month coronavirus break at home.
The 27-year-old will be a key player for Real Madrid as they hope to win their first La Liga title in three years.
‘Hazard is now fine,’ Courtois told Movistar.
‘The rhythm he shows is surprising, but we have to move on bit by bit.
‘You can’t expect him to be at his best without playing. I think he’s in good shape and we’ll need him to fight for the La Liga title.’
Hazard has been criticised by fans for his fitness level during his first season at Real Madrid because he was overweight.
‘We can’t wait for the league to restart and start the race to win it,’ Courtois added.
‘It’ll be different in empty stadiums. It’s very good when there is an atmosphere, even when playing away from home and the atmosphere is against you.
‘It gives you focus and it’s something that motivates me to pull off good saves. I’ll remain motivated even without the fans there.’
Real Madrid are two points behind rivals Barcelona in the table with 11 games left, and their first game is against Eibar on June 14, with games played behind closed doors.
