Arsenal Youngster Gabriel Martinelli has signed a new long-term contract deal with the Premier League club, MySportDab reports.
Martinelli signed for Arsenal 12 months ago and was not expected to play much of first-team football.
But the 19-year-old surprised everyone during pre-season and played frequently under Coach Unai Emery, before his sack.
His most fantastic goal was in January when he ran from deep inside Arsenal’s own half with the ball and scored calmly against Chelsea.
Martinelli was set to play a key part of Arsenal’s Premier League restart plans but he suffered a knee injury while in training.
However, Arsenal quickly reward the teenager for his effort this campaign, with 10 goals scored in 26 matches.
“I am very happy to sign a new contract with this great football Club and I want to thank Arsenal and the fans for this amazing year,” Martinelli said.
“This is the first of many and I can’t wait to play a part in the exciting seasons ahead.”
Coach Mikel Arteta added: “I am very happy that he has signed a new contract with us.
“He’s a very talented player and he has impressed us with his work-rate, performances and attitude.
“We are hope to get him back to full fitness and to continue his development at the club.”
