Chelsea are now closer to signing Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell this summer, MySportDab reports.

The Blues have so far signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner and remain in talks with Bayern Leverkusen to sign Kai Havertz.

However, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is also speaking with Leicester about a deal for Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea Coach Frank Lampard has always wanted Chilwell as his first-choice in the left-back role.

The England player has proved himself as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.

Now, Frank Lampard sees Chilwell as a perfect long-term solution to his problem at left-back.

Due to the poor performances by Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri, who might leave the club once Chilwell joins.

According to Sky Sports reporter Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are expected to pay around £45m to £50m to sign the defender.

Chilwell had some injury problems which made him miss Leicester City’s final three league matches.

However, he will be able to restart training after three weeks.

Leicester’s inability to secure Champions League football has weakened their hopes of keeping Chilwell at the club.

With the COVID-19 financial crisis also affecting Leicester City, they are now ready to accept less for Chilwell.

Leicester City have now decided to settle for £50m due to the coronavirus pandemic effect.

The transfer will make him the joint-most expensive English full-back alongside Kyle Walker and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

He will now leave Leicester after played 123 first-team matches over the last five years.
