Inter Milan Striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he is “very happy” for Manchester United after a “very good season”, MySportDab reports.

The Red Devils missed the chance to face Inter Milan in the Europa League final.

United suffered a 2-1 defeat against Sevilla on Sunday night despite taking the lead from a Bruno Fernandes penalty.

Goals from Luuk De Jong and Suso helped Sevilla reach a sixth Europa League final, and they have previously won all of their last five.

MySportDab understands that Manchester United for the first time in 31 years, have failed to win a trophy in three successive seasons.

Lukaku joined United after their last trophy win in 2017, with Jose Mourinho guiding the club to Europa League glory.

But after some time at Old Trafford in which he failed to fit in as expected, the Belgian was sold to Inter Milan in a £74m deal last summer.

Since his move to Inter Milan, Lukaku has enjoyed one of the best seasons of his football career and has now scored in seven consecutive matches for Inter in Europe.

Lukaku scored twice in Monday night’s 5-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk to set up a final showdown against Sevilla.

Lukaku has now scored 33 goals across all competitions from 50 matches under Coach Antonio Conte.

However, despite the fact he missed out on a reunion with his former club Manchester United in the final at the Rhein Energie Stadion.

The 27-year-old has hailed Solskjaer’s United and said they had a very encouraging year.

Asked if he was unhappy that United did not reach the final, Lukaku said: “Nah I think United tried their best.

“I believe they had a very good season and Ole did a great job.

“The players did really well. Greenwood’s rise to the first-team, Rashford, Martial.

“I’m very happy for them. They are clearly really good for next season without any doubt.”

Inter Milan showed their strength against Shakhtar as the Serie A club scored five goals to reach the Europa League final.
