Messi and his father has come out to make a statement saying the player £700 million release clause was an error by laliga, MySportDab reports.
The player and his father have insisted that the release clause ended at the end of the 2019/2020 season.
It means he can leave for free to anywhere he wants to leave after last season’s campaign with Barcelona.
According to them, there is no existing £700 million release clause on the Lionel Messi contract as of now.
Barcelona on the other hand have refuse to what the player and his father said as they are holding on to him.
In The Statement Messi Said:
“We do not know which contract they [Liga] have analysed, and which are the bases on which they conclude that it would have a termination clause.
