Aston Villa have announced the shock signing midfielder Ross Barkley on loan deal from Chelsea, MySportDab reports.
Chelsea Coach Frank Lampard used Barkley 31 times across all competitions last season but due to the arrival of Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech this summer.
Frank Lampard has decided to let Barkley leave the club in search of more playing time.
Ross Barkley has only played twice for Chelsea in the Premier League this season from the bench.
The 26-year-old has now joined up with Coach Dean Smith and assistant John Terry at Aston Villa for the rest of the 2020-21 season.
Villa Coach Dean Smith said: ‘Signing a player of Ross’s quality is a real deal for the Club and I am sure he will thrive here and improve the squad.’
Aston Captain Jack Grealish has also responded on social media, as his England national team-mate joins him at Villa Park.
Barkley’s started in Chelsea’s 6-0 Carabao Cup third round win against Barnsley last week and he scored.
On Tuesday, the midfielder was on the bench as Chelsea lost against Tottenham on penalties in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
Barkley has fallen down the pecking order behind Mount, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, and N’Golo Kante in the midfield options at Stamford Bridge.
Barkley’s exit comes after reports that Chelsea still want to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
The Blues are ready to sign Rice because they know that West Ham are desperate for cash.
Ross Barkley has played 86 matches for Chelsea across all competitions, scored 11 goals since his £15m transfer in 2018 from Everton.
