Atletico Madrid have now announced the signing of Striker Luis Suarez in a £5.5m deal from Barcelona, MySportDab reports.
Barcelona announced the agreement with Atletico and the Catalan club will get £5.5million.
In 2014, Suarez signed for Barcelona and helped the Spanish club to win four La Liga titles, 2015 Champions League and four Copa del Reys.
On Wednesday night, Atletico announced on their official website that Luis Suarez will join them after he passing a medical and his contract is being prepared.
Meanwhile, Barcelona thanked Luis Suarez for his contribution to the club during his time there.
A statement from Barcelona read: ‘We would like to express our gratitude to Luis Suarez for his dedication, commitment, and we wish him all the best.’
The 33-year-old will hold a final press conference at Barcelona’s stadium on Thursday afternoon.
At Barcelona, Luis Suarez scored 198 goals in 283 matches.
However, New Coach Ronald Koeman told him that he isn’t part of his future plans.
Luis Suarez has scored eight goals in 18 matches against rivals Atletico during his career, and Diego Simeone’s team are pleased that he’s now their player.
The idea of Luis Suarez and Diego Costa playing together is scary for defender, but youngster Joao Felix could also be learn from him.
Suarez will be determined to prove Ronald Koeman wrong for letting him leave.
Since Luis Suarez is gone, Antoine Griezmann is likely to start more frequently as Barcelona’s central striker.
