Real Madrid are now very concerned about Eden Hazard’s fitness levels after the Belgium star was not fit enough to play for his country, MySportDab reports.
Hazard did not play for Belgium in their UEFA Nations League games against Iceland and Denmark.
Belgium Coach Roberto Martinez admitted that Hazard ‘was not fit enough’ to play.
Now, According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid are now more frustrated about the ‘overweight’ fitness levels ahead of the new La Liga season.
MySportDab understands that Real Madrid believe Hazard should not have reported for international duty and remain in Spain to work on his fitness issues.
There are also concerns about his commitment to turning around his poor start to life at the Bernabeu after a very poor first season mostly affected by injury.
Again, this is the second year in a row that Hazard has been overweight ahead of a new season.
He arrived for Real Madrid’s 2019 pre-season tour seven kilos overweight, which got manager Zinedine Zidane very angry.
Now Hazard is unlikely to be fit to play in Real Madrid’s first match of the new season against Real Sociedad next Sunday.
According to MySportDab sources, Hazard needs at least ‘two or three more weeks’ to reach a good fitness level.
Vinicius Jr is now more likely to start ahead of the Belgian in Real Madrid attacking options upfront.
Hazard’s stay at Real Madrid is also been threatened unless he shows more of the quality he provided at Chelsea.
Real Madrid were unsuccessful in their plans to stop Belgium from taking Hazard and Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois on international duty.
But Courtois returned to Spain for pre-season last week Friday before Belgium’s Nations League Matches started.
Meanwhile, Eden Hazard remained with the Belgium squad but was not used at all.
After his mega-money transfer from Chelsea in 2019, Hazard played only 22 matches across all competitions and scored only one goal.
