Former Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness has claimed that Thiago Alcantara has already agreed a contract with Liverpool or Manchester United or even both clubs, MySportDab reports.
Thiago is the centre of attraction from both Premier League clubs and wants to leave Bayern Munich for a new challenge.
The 29-year-old is under contract at Bayern Munich until 2021 but the Bundesliga club won’t reduce their asking price for the midfielder.
Bayern Munich will not let Thiago leave the club for anything less than £27million despite the fact they could lose him for free next year.
After seven years at Bayern Munich, Thiago wants to embark on a new journey.
Liverpool are frontrunners in the race for Thiago and the player is attracted to the idea of playing with Jurgen Klopp.
However, The Premier League champions are low on cash and must sell players to raise funds for a bid.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are also expected to submit a bid for Thiago, who was tracked by the Red Devils in 2013.
Despite the arrival of Donny van de Beek, United could still add a world-class player like Thiago to their midfield options.
However, Uli Hoeness, who spent 49 years at Bayern as President believes that Thiago may well have already agreed personal terms with both Liverpool and United.
Speaking to Sport1, Hoeness said: “It’s difficult. Some time back, we agreed a new four-year contract. Days later he said: ‘I want a new challenge.’ Which is okay.
“I think he already has an agreement with Liverpool or Manchester United or even both of them. Now both clubs have not contacted Bayern Munich officially.
“In my opinion, that has no style. Both clubs are trying to blackmail us, because they want to get him cheap days before the transfer window closes.
“Now, FC Bayern have to ask themselves that question: do they want to play that game or do they force the player to stay.
“It will be a very hot next three weeks until October 5th.”
With both clubs unwilling to pay Bayern Munich’s asking price, what happens next remains unknown.
If Thiago fails to leave this summer, European clubs in the world will be lining up to agree a pre-contract deal with him in January.
