England Coach Gareth Southgate Reacts After Harry Maguire Red Card (Video)

England Coach Gareth Southgate has provided his full support for Harry Maguire after his red card against Denmark, MySportDab reports.

On a difficult night for the Three Lions, Two England players were sent off for the first time in the Country’s history.

Chelsea defender Reece James was shown a red card for bad-mouthing the referee Jesus Manzano after the match ended.

But it was Harry Maguire’s red card that proved crucial, just minutes before Christian Eriksen scored his penalty.

“The first yellow was from an unnecessary challenge by Maguire and that put him on edge, the second his momentum ended everything,” Southgate said.

“He’s a fantastic player and key part of the squad. He’s been criticised alot but, he’s always got our support.

“We need to show him that we totally belief in him. He’s had to deal with everything, and some people should know better.

“He’s aware that people will criticise him for this, to be reduced to 10 men is costly for us. It ended a lot of plans.

“When you’re older you can understand it, and move forward. He’s experiencing this for the first time.

“He’s had various, different setbacks but his profile has improved over the past few years because of his club and his success with us. He will keep going.”

England midfielder Jordan Henderson intervened to pull Reece James away from the referee after the final whistle but could not stop the red card for abusive language.
