Manchester United have started talks with Barcelona to sign winger Ousmane Dembele, MySportDab reports.

The Red Devils see Dembele as an alternative to their top transfer target Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

This week, Borussia Dortmund rejected Manchester United’s offer of £91m for Jadon Sancho.

Now, According to Sky Sports, United are working to sign other players like Ousmane Dembele.

Manchester United have offered to sign the former Dortmund player on a season-long loan with an option to buy the player.

MySportDab understands that Dembele rejected a loan move to rivals Liverpool in June.

Manchester United have also contacted Dembele’s agent and are working hard to convince the player before the transfer deadline.

According to MySportDab sources, Barcelona still want to sign Lyon forward Memphis Depay and Dembele leaving would free up enough space.

Since his move to Barcelona in 2017, Dembele has struggled with injuries at the Camp Nou.

The Frenchman has not played a match for Barcelona since November 2019.

Dembele has scored 19 goals in his 75 matches  for Barcelona.

The 23-year-old has won two La Liga titles and the Spanish Copa del Rey during his three years in Spain.

According to Sky Sports, United are now considering to submit an improved bid for the England player.

Sancho did not travel with the rest of the Borussia Dortmund squad for the German Super Cup match on Wednesday night against Bayern Munich.

If Manchester United do sign a new winger like Ousmane Dembele or Jadon Sancho, before Monday’s deadline, it could cause problems for Daniel James, who has barely played this season.

Leeds United asked to take he 22-year-old on loan until the end of the season but James wants to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford.
