Manchester United still have hope of signing Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele on loan in January, MySportDab reports.
United failed to sign the Frenchman in the summer on deadline day.
But, According to Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano, the 23-year-old is still a key target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Premier League club are only interested in a short-term loan deal, which blocked the summer negotiations with Barca in need of cash.
Barca wanted the money to assist new Coach Ronald Koeman rebuild the squad, because he wanted to sign Memphis Depay from Lyon.
The Catalan club are still interested in Depay ahead of the January transfer window.
Also, Barca want to avoid losing Dembele for free with his contract due to expire in 2022, if United offered a permanent deal.
Barca are now working on negotiating a new contract with the Frenchman after his decision to reject the loan option to sign a new contract in the summer.
MySportDab understands that Dembele ‘appreciates’ the steps Barcelona have taken for a new long-term contract.
Dembele has started the last three league matches for Barcelona since Ansu Fati’s injury and has three goals across all competitions.
With Fati injured for four months, Barca will be reluctant to let Dembele leave without signing a replacement.
In 2017, Dembele signed for Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in a £133.5m deal after Neymar’s exit to PSG.
