Five Liverpool players have been selected among the candidates for the 2020 Best FIFA Awards ahead of the ceremony in December, MySportDab reports.

The Ballon d’Or organisers cancelled the event in July due to the coronavirus pandemic, but FIFA has now brought up their top 11 players of 2020.

Liverpool Stars Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Thiago Alcantara and defender Virgil van Dijk are in the Best FIFA Men’s Player Award category.

Liverpool Goalkeeper Alisson has been nominated for the Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper 2020 Award.

Meanwhile, Thiago joined the Anfield club from Bayern Munich in the summer after a treble winning season in Germany.

Kevin De Bruyne is the only other Premier League football on the Award list, after the Manchester City star equalled Thierry Henry’s record for assists in 2019-20.

The Ballon d’Or has been dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo and both players make the list for FIFA.

Luka Modric, who is the only player other than the duo to have won the Ballon d’Or between 2008 and the present day, did not make the FIFA list.

However, Messi and Ronaldo’s dominance will be challenged for the 2020 Award by Bayern Munich Striker Robert Lewandowski, who scored 55 goals in 47 matches last season.

PSG duo Kylian Mbappe and Neymar also made the list after helping the French club reach the Champions League final.

Also, Real Madrid Defender Sergio Ramos is another top player to be nominated.

In the Men’s Goalkeeper Category, Alisson Becker, Thibaut Courtois, Keylor Navas, Manuel Neuer, Jan Oblak, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen have been nominated.
