Manchester United are ready to offer Bruno Fernandes a new contract worth £200,000-per-week in wages, doubling his current wages, MySportDab reports.
According to the Mirror, United want to reward the Portuguese playmaker for his efforts just less than a year after he joined United in a £47m transfer from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.
Fernandes has made an instant impact at Old Trafford, scoring 22 goals and providing 14 assists from 37 games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 26-year-old is only eleven months into a four-and-a-half year contract with the Red Devils and this new contract will allow him to extend for another 12 months.
MySportDab understands that Manchester United see Fernandes as a key element for their squad in the future.
The Red Devils want to keep him happy despite their lack of consistency both in the Premier League and Champions League.
He currently earns £100,000-per-week, a sum lower than some of the club’s top players players like David De Gea and Paul Pogba.
Goalkeeper De Gea earns £350,000-per-week and Paul Pogba is paid £300,000-per-week.
Meanwhile, the Portuguese earns the same amount as Jesse Lingard and Dean Henderson.
After the lockdown affected last season’s Premier League season, Fernandes returned to finish the season in fantastic style.
He was also crowned the fan’s player of the year award despite only playing half of the season.
He won two Premier League Player of the Month awards in February and June 2020.
However, Fernandes is more focused on team silverware, with United now seven years without winning a Premier League title.
Fernandes has been a great example this season with seven goals and three assists from nine games in the Premier League.
He has also continued his fantastic form in Europe, with three goals and an assist in the Champions League group stage games.
