Mesut Ozil has now agreed terms with Arsenal to terminate his current contract and join Fenerbahce, MySportDab reports.
Ozil will now leave Arsenal after months of being left out by Coach Mikel Arteta.
According to The Athletic, Ozil and the club have reached an agreement about terminating his contract.
The agreement would earn Ozil £7m between now and when his contract expires this summer.
The 32-year-old has been frozen out of the team at the Emirates since March and was not in the Gunners’ Premier League and Europa League squads.
However, he remain the highest paid player at Arsenal, earning £350,000 per week.
The Gunners have been working endlessly to cut off his wages from their budget.
Fenerbahce can’t afford to pay wages close to that level so it’s likely Ozil will take a massive pay cut.
But, it remains unclear if Arsenal will continue paying a part of his salary when he leaves this January.
Ozil’s contract expires this summer but he was expected to earn over £7m in wages before the end of June.
Arsenal and Ozil have now reached a compromise to find him a new player and put a stop to his endless wages loss.
Ozil has stated before that his desire was to remain at the Emirates as despite out of favour in recent years.
He was told that there’s no place for him in the team close to when the summer transfer window closed, which made it difficult for him to find a new club.
Ozil had also attracted interest from DC United in the MLS but he’s more interested in a move to Turkey.
