Real Madrid failed to reach the final of the Spanish Super Cup after losing 1-2 to Athletic Bilbao in the semi final of the competition, MySportDab reports.
First Half Report
The first half was very poor from Zidane side who went two goals down against their opponent who were fantastic.
Athletic Bilbao opened the goal scoring in the 18th minute as Raul Garcia punished the League leaders with an outstanding finish to give his side a 1-0 lead.
Real Madrid couldn’t respond as they conceded a penalty which the same player stepped up and converted to make it 2-0 in the 38th minute.
The first half ended with Real Madrid 0-2 Athletic Bilbao as they headed for the break with advantage to the away side in the match.
Second Half Report
The second half was tough as the home side in the encounter showed some little bit of class which saw them scored one goal.
Athletic Bilbao continued with their good display as they made sure their defense was up to the task of making sure nothing goes in.
Real Madrid soon got their consolation goal in the 73rd minute through Karim Benzema who managed to snatch one in to make it 2-1.
The match finally ended with Real Madrid 1-2 Athletic Bilbao as Zidane’s side crashed out of the competition.
