Arsenal Coach Mikel Arteta has said that Mesut Ozil’s future at the club could be resolved within days, MySportDab reports.
Arteta also made it clear that Ozil will not leave the club if the right deal cannot be agreed now in the January transfer window.
MySportDab understands that Arsenal want to get rid of Ozil’s outrageous wages this January.
The World Cup winner is not part of Coach Mikel Arteta’s Premier League plans for this season.
Ozil has not played for Arsenal since March 2020.
Some clubs like Fenerbahce, DC United, among others have previously shown an interest in the 32 year old.
His contract is due to expire in July but negotiations are still ongoing from both parties.
‘I will decide what happens in the coming days,’ Arteta said.
‘I am not sure of what will happen, he is free now to negotiate with clubs. We will discuss about the best situation for him internally.
‘Yes, with the player and his agent to try and find the best solution.’
Arteta added: ‘If a deal is agreed this January it is because it’s best for both sides.
‘It is the best thing for Mesut, his future and for the club. If that’s the deal, we will finalise it, if it is not like that then he will stay here.’
A number of the Arsenal players and Staffs agree with Arteta’s decision to keep the German out of his squads this season over his poor commitment.
The Arsenal manager refused to answer a question about if Ozil has already played his final match for the club.
