Ajax Legend De Boer has said that midfielder Donny van de Beek should consider leaving Manchester United to keep his place for the European Championship, MySportDab reports.
Van de Beek is yet to get his chance at Old Trafford, and has started only two Premier League games this season.
He has played three Champions League matches since his £40m move from Ajax in the summer.
The 23-year-old’s came on as a late substitute in United’s 2-0 semi-final loss to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
Van De Beek had previously started in every Carabao Cup round before Wednesday.
Van de Beek joined United with signs of promise after his ten goals and eleven assists for Ajax in the Eredevisie last season.
However, the Dutchman has scored only once for Solskjaer’s team on his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace.
Now, De Boer believes Van de Beek must consider a move to keep his place in the Holland National team.
De Boer said: ‘The European Championship is close already, he surely wants to be there.
‘I think it would be better to discuss with the club about the plans for him.
‘If his playing time does not improve, he must try to leave on loan or be sold to another club.
‘His playing style is suited for the Spanish league than the English League.
‘In the Premier League it’s more like hit and run, in Spain more one-two football is played. Donny is fine. But he can do more if used.’
