Manchester United Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now praised the performance from his team at Old Trafford in the 9-0 win over Southampton on Tuesday, MySportDab reports.

The Red Devils planned to use the match to return to winning ways and they did exactly that.

The game got a bad start for Southampton as Alexandre Jankewitz was shown a red two minutes into his Premier League debut.

After the Red, Manchester United took full advantage of the situation and scored 9 goals at Old Trafford over the next ninety minutes.

Cavani, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Marcus Rashford all scored in the first half, with an own goal from Bednarek making it 4-0.

In the second half, Solskjaer’s team did more damage to the situation.

Anthony Martial scored a quick fire double, with Daniel James, Scott McTominay, and Bruno Fernandes also scoring as United won 9-0.

However, Solskjaer has now expressed his delight at the performance.

“Yes, Cole did score five that time! We shared the goals between all players,” he said.

“Of course, with the way the match started, it was always going to be about scoring the first goal, because there are so many situations of a red card and it ends in a draw.

“We kept the tempo high and scoring the first goal put us on the right track.

“We’ve shown them our magic and tonight was the night everyone could be happy and enjoy. We haven’t had games like this when you can sit and enjoy the football in the second half.”

On taking off Cavani after at half time, he said: “He played out, but he was on the receiving end of a bad tackle on his ankle and so we decided not to risk it, hopefully it won’t get worse.”

Manchester United’s Rashford said: “It’s great to score many goals and we’re very happy, we finally secured the three points we needed.

“We dropped some points some few games ago and needed to win again, which we’ve now done.

“We needed to keep it simple as possible, keep moving forward, stay positive.

“It’s easy to stop the pressure but we didn’t allow that to happen, we went out for more in the second half.

“The first half started everything perfectly for us but it’s about remaining positive and scoring more goals.”
