Manchester United Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that talks over a new contract for Edinson Cavani is only a matter of time, MySportDab reports.
The Uruguay Striker has already scored seven goals since he joined the club from PSG on a free transfer.
There are also rumours of a potential transfer to Boca Juniors, but it appears likely.
United were criticised by fans and pundits in the summer for signing Cavani despite strong interest in Borussia Dortmund Winger Jadon Sancho.
However, Cavani has proved himself and he is now Solskjaer’s main Striker ahead of Anthony Martial.
Speaking ahead of United’s Premier League match against Newcastle on Sunday, Solskjaer revealed talks over a new contract will start in the near future.
“No doubt Edinson has done well,” said Solskjaer.
“He has impressed me, he’s really part of the group and we’ll sit down and have talks with him in the near future to see the general plan.
“It’s a good discussion that’s very likely to happen. We always speak to the players and we are delighted with his performance so far.”
Cavani missed United’s 4-0 Europa League win against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
However, Solskjaer does not know when Cavani, Van De Beek, Paul Pogba, and Scott McTominay will be available again.
“Paul is still out, I’m not sure about Scott and I don’t know about Edinson and Donny. I think they have a chance,” he said.
“We have to give them until the next training, because on Saturday we must pick a team so we’ll see how they perform. Hopefully they can be available for us.”
Dean Henderson impressed in the Real Sociedad victory in Turin and the 23-year-old kept a clean sheet.
