Juventus have now released a statement about the future of Cristiano Ronaldo after their Champions League exit, MySportDab reports.
Juve crashed out of the competition again before the semi-finals for the third successive season since they signed Ronaldo.
Many are now suggesting that Juventus decision to sign Ronaldo for £85million was a big mistake.
Juventus have not impressed in the Champions League in recent years.
The Old Lady lost against Ajax in the quarter-finals of the 2018/19 season before losing again against Lyon in the last 16 last year.
But, this lost against 10-man Porto was arguably their worst elimination ever in the Champions League.
Porto had a 2-1 lead from the first-leg at the Estadio do Dragao and scored a crucial first-half goal by Sergio Oliveira.
However, Juve fought back as Federico Chiesa scored twice to push the match into extra time.
Oliveira then scored a stunning low free-kick from 25-yards, meaning Juventus now needed two goals to qualify.
Ronaldo’s efforts to stop the shot were rightfully criticised by pundits.
The defeat now leaves Juventus with the question, will Ronaldo ever win the Champions League again?
Speaking after the match, Juventus director Fabio Paratici said that Ronaldo’s future is not the focus right now.
He said: “There’s one more year of contract until June 2022. Cristiano’s contract renewal is not the focus on the agenda, there’s time to discuss later”.
Andrea Pirlo’s future at Juventus is also into doubt with the defeat.
The man he replaced, Maurizio Sarri was sacked after Juventus lost the last 16 match against Lyon last season.
