Liverpool are now close to signing RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, MySportDab reports.
Coach Jurgen Klopp wants to bring in some new players to his squad this summer.
After failing to perform this season as expected, Liverpool are ready to spend.
The Reds have been heavily affected by injuries this season, with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all suffering from different injuries.
Now, Liverpool want to wrap up a deal for a new defender even before the summer transfer window opens.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are now finalising the deal to sign Konate from RB Leipzig at the end of the season.
MySportDab understands that the transfer is already at an ‘advanced stage’ and the Reds are now working on agreeing a few with Leipzig.
The 21-year-old is expected to play at the upcoming European Championships.
Liverpool have now made ‘more progress’ on a deal, which fans are excited about.
Leipzig do not have to sell if they don’t want to and if Liverpool do not pay the amount they want.
However, Liverpool are hoping to sign Konate for around £40m, which will make him the second most-expensive defender signed in the club’s history.
The Reds signed Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak in the January transfer window, but the two new recruits have not impressed.
They have now decided to bring in Konate, after missing out on signing Dayot Upamecano, who will now join Bayern Munich.
Liverpool are confident he can start in the first team given his Bundesliga and Champions League experience.
