Manchester United have the chance to sign Real Madrid Defender Raphael Varane this summer, MySportDab reports.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has appeared to confirm that the club are ready to sell the defender.
Varane is moving closer to the final year of his Madrid contract.
In a recent interview with El Larguero, Perez said: ‘some players will be sold’ and ‘if someone does not want to stay, then they leave’.
Some reports claim that most clubs want to sign Varane as a free agent when his contract expires in 2022.
But, Perez wants to prevent that from happening and will sell Varane this summer.
According to The Manchester Evening News, Madrid have no problems selling Varane to Manchester United this summer for a good fee.
Varane has a current market value of £60m.
Real Madrid offered Varane the club captaincy to Varane with his new contract offer but the defender is more focused on leaving due to the wage gap between his salary and others.
In January, it was revealed that Real Madrid’s debt has risen to €901m, and a net debt of €355m.
Now, Los Blancos must reduce cost and sell players to finance the dream signing of Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.
However, Manchester United want an experienced defender to partner Harry Maguire for next season in the summer transfer window.
And Varane has been a long-term target for Manchester United.
In 2018, reports claim that Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was ready to pay £100m for Varane after the 2018 World Cup.
Despite David De Gea’s failed Real Madrid transfer in 2015, Perez and Woodward still have a good relationship and both worked on the Super League.
Varane fits into United’s preferred age bracket of 23-28 for new signings with quality Champions League experience.
Varane has won four Champions Leagues Trophies, four Club World Cups, three La Liga titles, and the Copa del Rey at Real Madrid.
