Federico Chiesa and Matteo Pessina both scored in the extra time as Italy beat Austria 2-1 in the European Championship round of 16 match, MySportDab reports.
First Half Report
It wasn’t so much pleasing for the two sides in the first half of the encounter which they couldn’t make anything happen with the opportunities created.
Italy bossed the half with more of the ball possession going their way as they created some golden opportunities in that process which failed to be converted.
Austria was confident as they defend and attack in mass despite being the less good between the two Countries who had an equal chance at goal.
More coming from both Nations in an encounter that showed so much firepower and quality from the players who were good in every aspect on the pitch.
The first half ended with Italy 0-0 Austria as they both headed for the break with a goalless scoreline after a good 45 minutes.
Second Half Report
It was more of the same in the second half which had so many opportunities coming from the two ends but nothing good to write home about.
Austria was proving to be a very difficult side to play against with their defending doing all the work to keep a free-scoring side at bay all through.
Arnautovic did a number on Italy as he scored in the 65th minute only for VAR to review and chopped off the goal for offside by the Italians.
The game carried on without any more goal as it ended in the second half with Italy 0-0 Austria which saw them heading for extra time.
Extra Time Report
Good display back to back from both teams saw them kicking off the extra time with high pace and quality after some few changes of players.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 95th minute of the game by Federico Chiesa who made sure his finishing was perfect to make the scoreline 1-0.
More to play for with the side down doing everything to get themselves back in the game as they made so good run going forward but it was all easily dealt with.
Matteo Pessina added another goal in the 105th minutes as the scoreline increased to 2-0 in favor of the home team who had all the energy and power to make things happen.
Sasa Kalajdzic pulled one back in the 114th minutes to make it 2-1 as the match ended with Italy 2-1 Austria which see the Italians making way into the next round.
