Manchester United are now ahead in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland next summer, MySportDab reports.
The striker scored 41 goals in 41 matches for the German Bundesliga club last summer.
Haaland was being scouted by Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid this year.
Earlier this summer, Chelsea submitted a cash-plus-player bid for Haaland which Dortmund rejected immediately.
Dortmund did not accept because the offer by Chelsea was below their £150m valuation of the player.
Now, According to German Newspaper BILD, Manchester United are now the frontrunners for Haaland next summer when his release clause is active.
Haaland’s release clause will be activated by his agent Mino Raiola next summer.
Raiola has previously worked with United, and he’s the agent of United midfielder Paul Pogba.
Mkhitaryan is one of three Borussia Dortmund players that have joined Manchester United in recent years.
Mkhitaryan, Shinji Kagawa and Jadon Sancho are the three players to have joined United from Dortmund.
Haaland has been regularly linked with current United Coach Solskjaer, given they together at Molde between 2017 and 2019.
The 21-year-old has now grown into one of the best strikers in world football following his performance at Red Bull Salzburg and Dortmund.
Haaland has now started the current season five goals in four matches across all competitions.
Speaking about Haaland, BVB Coach Marco Rose said: ‘He has a lengthy contract with us. Just because everyone thinks he will leave next summer, that doesn’t mean it will happen.
‘Erling will make a decision for himself where he sees his future. Right now, we are happy that he is playing for us.’
Haaland’s Borussia Dortmund record is at 62 goals in 63 games and he helped the Bundesliga club win the German Cup last season.
