Newly-rich Newcastle United are set to rival Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the pursuit of Real Madrid’s striker, Karim Benzema, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional, reports MySportDab.
Following their recent big-money take-over by a Saudi led consortium, Newcastle are now one of the world’s richest clubs. They now stand a chance to rival European elite clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester City and PSG in the transfer window.
Newcastle are now interested in Real Madrid star, Karim Benzema and are prepared to challenge PSG to his signing. The Frenchman recently signed a new contract that keeps him with Real Madrid until 2023.
Bar Callum Wilson, who is injury-prone, Newcastle have no reliable goalscorer. They will now look to sign a big name centre-forward and Benzema has caught the eyes of the club’s rich owners.
PSG are rumoured to looking for a new centre-forward as Mauro Icardi has not been hitting it for the club and Kylian Mbappe is on the verge of switching to Real Madrid on a free transfer.
However, Benzema has no intention of joining Newcastle United. The Frenchman will prefer to move to PSG should Real Madrid sign either Erling Haaland or Mbappe.
Benzema has been immensely pivotal for Real Madrid in the past years, notching 293 goals and 152 assists in 574 appearances for the club since moving from Lyon. He has contributed in helping Madrid win trophies, notable among them four champions league titles.
Should Los Blancos go for Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe next summer, Benzema might decide to find a new club as he is currently unhappy with the development. However, that new club will not be Newcastle after the centre-forward already dissuaded the rumours.
