Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has revealed his stand when asked about the upcoming Manchester derby on Saturday.
According to the Spaniard he believes Club Brugge was the focus and so the most important competition as far as he was concerned yesterday.
City ended up with a 4-1 win over the Belgian side, Club Brugge in the Champions league group stage match.
Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus on the score sheet after John Stones committed an own goal.
After the match Guardiola then said his attention was away from Club Brugge but now on Manchester United as the focus is a game at a time.
“I had said it before and before the Club Brugge game that as that moment they were the better and difficult competition compared to Manchester United and I was almost crucified for it.”
Asked if the team was prepared on the match shift to 12:30pm on Saturday
“Now we are preparing, prepared for Manchester United, Club Brugge test is over now. We move on even if asked to play tomorrow we will be ready.”
Guardiola continued;
“I’m satisfied with everything we had to do. In a great club like this you need to understand you did it without help what else asides that. I understand all the titles I have ever won were in big clubs and it means a lot more to me here at City.”
After repeated questions on being helped Guardiola replied;
“I said we don’t need help, we don’t get any, we don’t demand for any, we are focused on doing things ourselves and that’s what we do.”
Speaking on the game with Club Brugge, he said;
“I am pleased, it was good, a deserved win. They defended well, we expected that but it was deeper than the last time out, it wasn’t easy but we got the victory which is the most important and we did convincingly.”
“Now we need a point to qualify, on top of the group. It was the right response after defeat to Paris.”
It is showdown on Saturday, the clash of the titans in a Manchester Derby as Pep’s side will travel to Ole Gunnar’s Manchester United their fierce rival in push for the title.
