Bayern Munich 3-0 Barcelona | Barca Crashes Out Of The Champions League

Barcelona suffered a heavy heartbreak cum defeat in the hands on Bayern Munich in the last match day of the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League Group stage.

Nagelsmann’s side won 3-0 in the Allianz Arena and are one of the Champions League favourites, Xavi’s team are now in the Europa League.

The Germans scored 22 goals in the group stage while Barça have only scored twice. And today was no different as Bayern notched in 3 goals while Barca could not respond.

Xavi is five games into to his time as Barça coach. After a reasonable start with two wins and a draw he has now lost his last two.

Barcelona are broken and with too many missing parts to be put back together right now – no matter which club legend tries to do the fixing.

They lost Lionel Messi in the summer and without him they failed to get out of their Champions League group for the first time since 2001.

Things started badly for them in the sub-zero conditions in Munich.

Marc Andre ter Stegen gave the ball straight to Robert Lewandowski and Sergio Busquets picked up a yellow when he fouled him on the edge of the area. Leroy Sane’s free-kick hit Busquets in the wall and he needed treatment.

Things picked up when Jordi Alba tested Manuel Neuer with a shot, and then crossed for Sergino Dest only for the full-back to fail to make contact with the centre. ‘We could play for hours and not score’ Gerard Pique said earlier in the season, it looked that way again.

Barcelona will now move to the Europa League. This is the first time 17 years that Barcelona will fail to qualify for the champions league knockout stages.
